Prof. Holger Hanselka

D.Eng., Key-Note Speaker at the Hansa Congress

Since 2013, Prof. H. Hanselka has been President of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which is the Research University in the Helmholtz Society, and Vice President of the Energy Research Field of the Helmholtz Society, Germany's biggest scientific organisation. Before that, he had been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability since 2001, and was in charge of the research field of “System Reliability and Machine Acoustics” at Darmstadt Technical University. From 2006 to 2012, he was a member of the Fraunhofer Society Governing Board, and from 2011 to 2013 Vice-President of Darmstadt Technical University. Under Haselka’s leadership, the KIT managed to regain a “University of Excellence” rating in the latest Excellence Strategy contest. Involved in various advisory bodies of the German government, Prof. Hanselka is a member of the Steering Committee for the scientific platform of the Federal Environment Office and for the Climate Protection Plan 2050 of the German Research Ministry.
