The Brilon Hanseatic Days are meant to be a festival for and by townspeople, intended to help boost the community's public spirit. Lots of volunteers, sponsors, and supporters from the locality have already come together, stressing this sense of unity. In 2020, Brilon celebrates the 800^th anniversary of its town charter, granted by Engelbert von Berg, Archbishop of Cologne.
